Frequently Asked Questions

An error message tells me I've entered an incorrect username or password.

The system may not recognize your username or password because...

  • You are trying to use your password from a previous quarter instead of your current campus password. Have password?
  • You changed your password and forgot. Forgot password?
  • Your “caps lock” key is down. Your user name must be all lower-case letters.
  • You aren’t in the course management system’s database yet. If you registered late, you may need to wait a day or two.
  • A glitch has disabled your password and you need to have the Help Desk reset it.

I get security warnings when entering and leaving online courses.

Wright State’s online classes encrypt information that flows between your computer and class Web sites. Since most browsers tell you when you enter or leave a secure site, warnings will pop up in your online classes. Turn these harmless warnings off, if you like, by checking or unchecking a box on the warning itself.

Pages take a very long time to appear after I click links in online courses

The Alternative Logon page may speed up your access.

I don’t see my online course listed under “Courses” on my myWebCT page.

Your course may not be available until the first day of the quarter. If the course still doesn’t show up after the quarter starts, contact your instructor or the Help Desk.

In the discussion area, when I click on a message title or on the “Compose Discussion Message” link, nothing happens.

Programs that block pop-up ads when you’re surfing the Web may also block windows that are supposed to pop up in your online courses. If you have installed a pop-up ad blocker, you may need to disable or uninstall it.
