Current minimum computer requirements

You need at least the equipment below. Newer, faster, higher versions will usually work better. Also see “Right browser?” and "Other software."

Our minimum hardware recommendations will increase in July 2007 to accommodate newer software and instructional media.

2006 to 2007 Minimum Requirements

Intel/Microsoft Windows

  • Intel Pentium 650mHz processor or equal
  • 256mb RAM (512 strongly recommended)
  • 10gb Hard Drive
  • CD-ROM (DVD-ROM recommended)
  • monitor capable of 1024x768 resolution
  • Windows 2000 is acceptable, but Windows XP Pro is recommended
  • Internet service provider and 56 kbps modem or broadband connection

Apple Macintosh

  • Power Macintosh G4 550mHz
  • 256mb RAM (512 strongly recommended)
  • 10gb Hard Drive
  • CD-ROM (DVD-ROM recommended)
  • monitor capable of 1024x768 resolution
  • MacOS X 10.3
  • Internet service provider and 56 kbps modem or broadband connection

2007 to 2008 Minimum Requirements

Microsoft Windows

  • 1gHz processor
  • 512mb RAM
  • 10gb Hard Drive
  • CD-ROM (DVD-ROM recommended)
  • monitor capable of 1024x768 resolution

  • Internet service provider. (A broadband connection is highly recommended)
